Elise Smith is the Knowledge Base and Training Specialist at MYBOS, where her primary goal is to make the platform’s extensive information more accessible and easily digestible for all users. Since joining the team, she has focused heavily on revamping the MYBOS knowledge base, making the resource centre more visually appealing and highly user-friendly. She takes great pride in turning a comprehensive platform into something simple and approachable for everyday clients.
From the classroom to the tech industry
Before transitioning into technology, Elise worked as a high school teacher and spent several years in sales, an industry she began working in at just 14 years old. While she always wanted to teach, she eventually realised her passion for education extended beyond the traditional classroom, leading her to pursue learning design and training. She also runs her own business selling teacher-focused digital products, where building knowledge bases for her customers initially sparked her interest in her current career path. In a surprising career pivot, Elise originally studied political and human geography at university. She notes that if someone had told her back then that she would eventually be learning to code to build software knowledge bases, she would have found the idea very hard to believe.
Life outside the office
Elise attributes much of her job satisfaction to the fantastic team environment at MYBOS, where everyone gets along well. She notes that CEO Sam Khalef fosters a positive, approachable workplace where feedback is always welcome, and his genuine passion for the industry motivates the team to deliver their best work. As a tenant in a building that does not currently use MYBOS, Elise understands the practical need for the product firsthand. She is dealing with a broken air conditioner that remains unfixed. A frustrating process she knows would have been resolved much faster if her building manager relied on the MYBOS platform. Outside of work, Elise is a highly artistic person who enjoys drawing, building detailed miniatures, and exploring local cafes as a self-proclaimed coffee nerd. Currently, she is also challenging herself to learn as many new languages as her brain can handle.
